Extremely lax of me!!!

I set this up and then forgot about it until today!

I suppose a few photos to show my "bona fides" (for those unwilling to do their own investigation) are in order... I received an email asking me if I was "for real" (Oh, My Dear... just ask my Audiologist, Proctologist, Cardiologist, or Health Insurance Carriers.... they're all convinced I'm V E R Y real!

I am unsure just how this works but it looks the standard richtest board sertup so:

I do Nautical ropework and - while I AM an expert at rigging sailing craft in traditional manners - my hands will no longer admit of my doing so, so I now do decorative ropework almost exclusively... Sennits (braided or woven rope belts are an example), lanyards, bell-ropes and generally just pretty things are now my balliwick.

Here's a nice picture of a bell-rope I recently made for Cap'n R. Moser (USN Ret) of Virginia: It's all of 8" long overall but it's about 2" wide at the widest and is ended off by a 9x8 "square" turk's head (Hereinafter a TH) with a covering of over 2 fender hitching and various smaller TH's, up to the thimble ended clapper attachment.

I can absolutely guarantee you that no-one is going to be terribly interested in the mechanics of doing fancywork in small lines, wearing out your fingers and eyes in the process and winding up with something that no-one seems to want, but, Hey! It's MY obsession, innit?

For the two of you who DO find this interesting, I shall be putting up some thoughts on, instructions for and uses of fancy rope work from time to time... Of course, you can find many more items at my website (www.frayedknotarts.com) but on here I can expound somewhat on various items and thoughts (when, and IF, I actually have any) more than I presently do on-site.

Welcome, pull up a rope spool, grab your small fid and lets do some "sailor-ly" time killing.

Someone pass me that rum.

(That was the "Introduction" apart... Seems the "Mission Statement" is, indeed, mission.
